Family Bumped by big game gets new home
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A Lawrence mother and her son now have a new place to stay after being forced from their home by fire, then from their hotel by the Super Bowl.
Tonya Kelly and her son had been staying at Comfort Inn and Suites after their home was damaged by fire, but she had to leave when rates went up and the hotel said all rooms were booked for the Super Bowl.
Dozens of Hoosiers offered a helping hand after first hearing Kelly’s story on 24-Hour News 8, including the owner of Extend-A-Suites in Indianapolis, who offered the family a room at their regular rate.
Kelley and her son checked in there Tuesday afternoon. She said she plans to stay there until she finds permanent housing.
